SKILLS Group of Charlotte - Volunteers Needed
The SKILLS Group of Charlotte is looking for high school volunteers (preferably 14+) to commit to assisting once a week for a month at a time. The SKILLS Group of Charlotte is a certified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on educating teens and young adults, equipping them with life-skills and knowledge that can extend to every aspect of their lives. We hope that volunteers would have a passion for special needs students, education, and creating friendships that reach beyond any handicap.

Embrace the SPIRIT of Friendship - SPRED of St. Matthews
SPIRIT Club is a social club for persons with developmental disabilities and intellectual challenges; we meet once a month for two hours. We have such a great time doing arts and crafts, playing games and engaging in athletics! One of the greatest benefits is that we make new friends.
Each club member has a “buddy” who participates with them at the meetings. Many of our buddies have gone off to college, so we are in great need of adults and teens, age 15 and older to help at the club meetings.
This is your invitation to be Jesus’ Hands and Feet.
Added bonus: Service hours for teens.
Please contact: Linda Altritt at linnync@carolina.rr.com  347-761-6008 or Jan Clemens at SPREDNC@gmail.com 704-246-7102.

Men's Shelter - Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed to staff our monthly Wednesday time slots at the Charlotte Men’s Shelter Commissary and the Housing and Employment Resource Center (HERC).  Our commissary service teams distribute clothing and personal care items to the residents.  Our resource center teams help the shelter residents find employment and living arrangements using computers donated by the parish.  The time slots are flexible, but typically run 6:30-8:30 pm.  For more information or to volunteer, e-mail Tom Ellis at tjellis.qdoon02@gmail.com

Freedom School 2016
Help make a difference for a child from the HOM/SHIP program attending the reading and literary-based Freedom School program this summer.  If you have hobby/skill/passion that you would like to share with a class, contact Laura Hull at ehull@carolina.rr.com or 704-366-4907.  If you enjoy reading to a group (only a 30 minute time commitment that exposes scholars to varied backgrounds/professions), e-mail Chris Ryskiewich at cryskiewich@carolina.rr.com.

Virtual Service Opportunity

Have a heart to serve, but don’t have time to attend meetings or events?  Have a computer and access to the web?
The REACH Ministry is looking for volunteers to join our team and identify potential service opportunities to add to our site.
Time Requirements: 2-5 hours per month
Suitable for:  High school students to adult
Activities:  Research potential service opportunities that fit with our Catholic values and be included on the REACH website.  Identify critical information necessary, such as organization name and purpose, dates of events, description of service need, age appropriateness, etc.
Training will be provided.  Will attest to service hours if needed for schools, organization, etc.
